What does ''Nous'' mean?

“Nous” is a term from ancient Greek philosophy that translates to “mind” or “intellect.” It signifies the human faculty capable of understanding and reasoning. In classical philosophy, Plato viewed “nous” as the highest form of knowledge, capable of grasping eternal truths. Aristotle distinguished it from other mental faculties, emphasising its role in intellectual understanding. Neoplatonist philosopher Plotinus saw “nous” as a divine principle, representing the intelligible world. Overall, “nous” embodies the concept of intellectual and rational comprehension, fundamental to human thought and knowledge.
